RMB uppercase is a special Chinese character form widely used in Chinese finance and official documents to prevent tampering. The following briefly introduces its rules, common misconceptions and data security notes.

#01

What Is RMB Uppercase?

RMB uppercase is a way of writing monetary amounts using complex Chinese characters instead of simple Arabic numerals, mainly to prevent alteration. For example, 123.45 yuan is written as "壹佰贰拾叁元肆角伍分".

This writing style originated in ancient Chinese banks and draft houses, and was later inherited by the modern financial system. It has become the standard format for formal documents such as checks, drafts, invoices and contracts. According to the People's Bank of China payment settlement regulations, the amount on bills and settlement vouchers must be recorded in both Arabic numerals and Chinese uppercase, and the two must match.

Our Number to RMB converter automatically generates the corresponding uppercase amount according to the input Arabic numerals and supports one-click copying for finance staff, accountants and business professionals.
